Anti-Money Laundering Policy
Why does Gatineau Casino verify my identity?
Verification keeps criminal money out of our cashier and protects genuine players.
Wherever local law permits, we welcome players, and we follow Canadian rules on age, identity checks and anti-money laundering. Identity verification lets us stop stolen payment cards, fake accounts and any attempt to pass illegal funds through deposits and withdrawals. It also confirms every player is 19+. Because these checks happen ahead of the first deposit you make, your withdrawals will not be held up later.
What if my verification cannot be finished?
The account stays restricted until we are satisfied.
Your deposits, play and withdrawals remain paused if your documents are:
- missing
- unreadable
- altered
- inconsistent with your account details
You will receive an email setting out what we require. Deliberate fraud or forged documents lead to account closure, and we may pass the case to the appropriate authorities. Any balance left in the account is handled under our Terms of Use and Canadian law.
Do you screen players for politically exposed persons and sanctions?
Yes. We screen every account against both sanctions lists and lists of public office holders.
We treat anyone in a prominent public role, whether current or former, as a politically exposed person, and the same applies to members of their family and people closely connected to them. Holding this status will not stop you from playing. It does mean enhanced checks, with a more detailed look at the origin of your funds. Anyone named on a sanctions list is barred from having an account.
At what point is the origin of my funds checked?
Larger or unusual activity leads to a source of funds check.
We request evidence of where your funds come from in these cases:
- your deposits rise sharply
- your deposits do not match the profile you have given
- your deposits reach levels that call for added care
Typical examples include recent payslips and bank statements, or paperwork confirming a property sale or an inheritance. We may restrict play while the information is under examination.
Do you keep watching my account after sign-up?
We keep monitoring activity until the account is closed.
Our systems and compliance staff look for patterns such as:
- funds that are deposited and withdrawn again with hardly any play
- frequent changes of payment method
- several accounts linked to one person
- use of third party payment details
Withdrawals are paid only through Interac e-Transfer or Online Banking / Trustly, to accounts held in your name.
Which records are kept, and where are reports sent?
We keep verification and transaction records, and we report suspicious activity as Canadian law requires.
We store your identification documents, payment history and verification outcomes securely for the complete retention period the law imposes, including after your account is closed. Suspicious activity is reported to the competent Canadian authorities as legally required. Because the law bars us from revealing whether any filing has been made, we cannot confirm or deny to any player that one exists. How We Handle Your Data explains how storage works.
Which documents do you ask for to confirm identity and age?
Photo ID, proof of address and, where relevant, documents showing the payment method belongs to you.
- Identity and age: a valid government photo ID, still within its expiry date, that displays your photograph, birth date and complete legal name. A passport qualifies, as does a driver's licence.
- Address: a recently issued statement from a utility provider or your bank, bearing your name and your residential address.
- Payment: evidence that the deposit method belongs to you, such as an online banking screenshot or a card image with the middle digits covered.
Each image should be sharp and in full colour, and all four corners of the document must be visible. We may also verify your details electronically using reliable data sources.
How can I submit documents or ask about a check?
Email [email protected] with your questions or files.
Writing to us from the same email you used to register helps us confirm your identity more quickly. Our compliance team confirms receipt of your documents, then lets you know whether they are approved or whether more information is needed.
