Staying in Control
How does Gatineau Casino approach responsible play?
Staying in control is part of every account, from the Lobby to the VIP Club.
Our games are meant for entertainment. Every account comes with controls that you set and manage yourself. We also watch for signs that gambling is becoming harmful and act when we see them. Accounts with an active break or self-exclusion receive no promotions or Gatineau Rewards offers.
How are minors kept away from the tables?
Only adults aged 19+ may hold an account.
We check age and identity before accepting a first deposit. Accounts belonging to minors are closed. The full procedure, along with filtering tools parents can set up at home, is described in our Underage Gambling Policy.
Which controls can I set on my account?
Every one of these tools is available from your account settings.
Limits on deposits, wagers and stakes
Set a limit on deposits, on total wagering or on single stakes, for a period of your choosing. When you reach a limit, the account will not accept anything further until the period resets.
Time alerts and reality checks
Pick an interval and we will pause your session with a reminder. It displays your playing time so far along with your net win or loss, letting you decide whether to keep going.
Cooling-off break
You can set a pause of one day at minimum, capped at six weeks. Once it begins, your account is blocked from deposits and wagers, and you regain access only after the chosen period runs out.
Self-exclusion and closing your account
When a brief pause falls short, self-exclusion keeps your account shut for a longer stretch. You may also ask us to close it for good. Both options are arranged by email, and we take your details off every marketing list we hold.
Identity and location checks
We verify your identity before any deposit is accepted. Geolocation also confirms you are in an area where our service is permitted. These steps together ensure that only the owner of each account can use it.
When will my new limit take effect?
Lower limits start at once. Higher limits start after 24 hours.
Any reduction to a limit applies instantly once saved. Raising a limit or removing it only becomes active once 24 hours have passed. This pause lets you think again about a choice made during play.
Who can I contact for free, confidential support?
Free support is available from these organisations.
- 211 Alberta
- Kindbridge Behavioral Health
- ConnexOntario
- Gambling Therapy
They are independent of Gatineau Casino. Speaking to them has no effect on your account.
Is my play still healthy, and how would I know?
Take our self-assessment quiz for a private check that lasts a few minutes.
The quiz poses brief questions about your spending, the time you spend and how you feel around play. Your answers remain private to you and are never used for marketing. Signs to watch for include:
- chasing losses
- borrowing to deposit
- hiding play from family
- feeling restless when you stop
If your results raise concern, set a limit, start a break or contact one of the organisations above.
